but tactically speaking, i thought it was smart. >> geoff duncan how do you look at this particular issuemeone who is a critic of donald trump, also a republican? so there are there are obviously conservative oriented policy ideas around how this conflict should play out. but trump himself has also talked about this in sort of head spinning ways oftentimes. how do you look at all of this? >> well, hearing those parents, it was just heartbreaking, right? i just can't imagine one of my sons being in that situation and having that that helpless feeling i think it's important to recognize it's going to take a statesman mentality to to to make headway in this issue. right. it's just not going to be a bull in a china shop mentality. everybody at the negotiating table wants the same things. i think they want a ceasefire and they want the hostages released, with one exception hamas. they're the only one at the negotiating table that doesn't want this. and so i think we've got to continue to work with the statesman mentality to build those those coalitions and those unbreakable bonds even if they

geoff duncan, adam kinzinger, that's just to name a few kinzinger has it's a pretty plumbed spot on thursday that's some prime real estate. who do you think this is going to draw? >> well, this is really important because what i think it showed because as you don't have to agree with kamala harris on every issue, in fact, you're never going to a candidate find a candidate you agree with every issue, but you know what this is about the integrity of our republic. it's about the exit central threat that donald trump represents. these are principled conservative republicans who are really saying, look, i may not agree with kamala harris on every issue, but i put a premium on making sure we can maintain our republican or democratic institutions kamala harris will do that. she's smart, she's an attorney. donald trump tried to bring it down last time. and what's to say he won't tried to bring it down again. >> some of them will also say that democrats need to do a lot to address the issues of the economy, inflation, immigration, some of the issues that trump holds it's better on abortion obviously

geoff duncan is going to tell you that georgia is winnable. the polls are going to tell you that would be a huge thing. and people who can vote, but don't usually vote would have to come out in force to make that happen, right. >> and well, i mean, in look, if if anyone can help her do it, it's the obamas. but i think your point's very well taken i mean, when i talked to strategy that republicans are watching georgia, but they'll say we're not there yet. wow, worried. we're not that worried about it yet. yeah. and i think to your point to the reason probably that these folks okay. >> son stage or so aggressively optimistic is because again, it goes back to that comment. the vibes, right? if you are projecting confidence, then the voters feel confident and they feel like this is somebody that they can get behind. so it is important in that aspect, but it also runs the risk of getting people to complacent, right? we're up so big that we don't have to worry about it anymore. so it's a really fine line and that's really interesting point. i think.

joining me right now, cnn political commentator, former republican lieutenant governor of georgia, geoff duncan, who is endorsed. kamala harris in this election. it's good to see you again so this rule passed three to two the people on this board, they're not household names to oh, so many, you are more familiar with them who are the republicans who are pushing this? and what do you think they're doing here? >> well i think it's important to start with what this board really has done historically, and it's just a handle small administrative functions. it really serve as a liaison between the legislature and the counties because a majority of these elections, the work is done at the county level and so come 2020, brad raffensperger was kind of the poster boy of the state elections board as our secretary of state. and he just became an instant lightning rod for donald trump and those around them. so this board has really shifted over time and has been hyper-politicized and so really what you see is our state gop is owned and operated by donald j. trump solely and they have used this board as a fu

think that there's a big fixation on that, but i think that former lieutenant governor of georgia, geoff duncan had a really powerful code at the convention when he said that if you're republican and you vote for kamala harris, it doesn't make you a democrat and makes you a patriot. and there are a number of republicans supporting the vice president because they see how extreme donald trump is and disaster that he has been for this country and so i think that this is who the vice president is. she's not looking at partisan chip or red and blue. she's focused on building consensus to make sure that she is delivering for the american people. and so that's what she's going to continue to do. and so when she said that she would appoint a replacement publican, that's what she means, but i think that the vice president routinely looks for people who disagree with heart because that's how you get to the best results she's not a dictator like donald trump are looking to be a dictator like donald trump. she's looking to build consensus and deliver for the american people. >> and she did highlight a dive
