well for more on that plane crash i'm joined by aviation expert geoffrey thomas jeffrey we're still looking for answers as to what caused this plane crash there have been talk of this being an engine malfunction others are questioning that theory what's your assessment. look it's obviously very early days and very difficult to to get an accurate assessment particularly with these volatile situation we have in the middle east as well but one thing i will say is that from the photographs that we have observed are one particular engine there are shrapnel marks. on the engine but they are outwards in other words it appears as though there's been an uncontained failure of that engine when i say uncontained what i mean is that the fan blades inside that in you have broken loose and punctured the engine and then flown out of the out of the engine and possibly. penetrated the fuselage possibly cut fuel lines and done external damage to the airplane so the original assessment by the iranian authorities that there appears to have been an engine failure seems to hold some credibility on the imagery we
