daniels. i want to move on to george papadopoulos.e first campaign that he sentenced to the mueller probe. two weeks 14 days behind bars. in terms of perspective, for this, for lying to federal authorities, put this in perspective with the sentencing guidelines. someone suggests it sounds like 14 days isn't a big deal. but actually, this was kind of harshes right? >> it is, in the context of this sort of a sentence. federal sentencing is a pretty confusing sort of animal. we all hear these references in statutes that say up to 30 years. or 30 years to life. or whatever that statute might say. but in reality, the types of sentences that federal judges impose are much lower. and they are typically informed by a document called the sentencing guidelines which is the creation of a number of judges and practitioners who make recommendations to judges about sentencing ranges. so in this case, papadopoulos, who had no prior criminal history had a sentencing range of zero to six months. the judge was free to go above that if the judge found g
