george w. bush was the president, defrancisco was the governor of new jersey, the pataki was the governor of new of new york. today we have obama, christie cuomo and bloomberg. and you look at these eight people and you can see why this worked. i think the stewardship back then was exactly right and the stewardship going forward, i think, is going to continue to keep new york growing. remember conventional wisdom, charlie, back after the terrible tragedy of '01 was at everybody was going to move out of new york, every company was going to move at least half of their business out. nobody was ever gog to live downtown. no tourists would ever come to new york. new york would go back to the bad old days of high crime. and every single one of those things was just not wrong it was... they were dead wrong. it's 180 degrees opposite today. there are double the number of people living downtown than live downtown on 9/11 01. there are more people living downtown today than live downtown in any year since 1920. tourism, there were seven hotels that were downtown before 9/11 '01, everybody said they'd go o
