george's county is moving forward. the new hospital is being built at largo town center. county officials are preparing to celebrate and mark the next step. news4's darcy spencer is live with what we can expect. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, as this is going to be a multi million dollar state of the art hospital right here in largo. a teaching hospital and it is all part of what the county executive is calling the new downtown largo. let's look at some of the rendering of this new facility. it is going to cost $543 million. it is going to be built on the site of the boulevard at the shopping center. this process, as you mentioned, has taken a few years in fact, the county had to scale back the project by $100 million in order to get this project approved. the county executive says that this hospital is going to be the anchor for new development here in largo. he is envisioning medical offices, office space, shopping centers, already we're seeing condos popping up all over this area and it is also right by the largo metro center. afternoon right here at the shopping center. back to you. >> thank you. >>> one place people count on to always feel safe

george's ty that has shut down part of the beltway near college park this morning. we're told that a maryland state trooper is one of the victims. news4's darcy spencer just got to the scene. what can you tell that is happening? >> we did just get here. i can tell you that the top side of the beltway is an absolute mess. you can avoid it if you can. we're on an overpass here looking down on 495. you can see, this is just a just one lane is getting by here to the left. this is right around route 1 again in the college park area, as you get on the beltway from i-95. like you said, a trooper involved in this crash, two vehicles involved. the trooper was flown to the hospital. a second person in another car was also taken to the hospital. we're told that both of them are going to be okay. they're still investigating the circumstances of the crash but this sunday morning whether you're heading out to church, running errands or have somewhere else to go. you want to keep in mind to avoid this area from what i understand, the back up starts around new hampshire avenue. again, this is on the inner loop. you're also going to be affected if you come down 95 so

george's county is moving forward. >> it is set to go up at the largo town center and today, county officials are preparing to celebrate and mark the next steps. news4 darcy spencer is live with what we can expect. of the boulevard at the shopping center and it is going to be part of of what the county executive is calling downtown largo. it is a $543 million project that is going to replace the aging prince george's hospital center over near the largo metro station. it took the county a few years just to get the certificate of need. within the last few months, they had to scale back the poj $100 million. this is going to anchor new development in this area of prince george's county, along with the hospital, they're expecting new shopping, new housing to have medical offices and regular retail offices and have transit oriented development here in this area. they are expected to break ground sometime next year, we're looking at a roughly 2020 opening of the new hospital. there will be a press conference today at 12:30 here at the back to you. >> thank you, darcy. there are 18 days until you can cast a ballot. the candidates are focusing on battleground states toda
