how do you think mayor chertoff and been the driving force behind this and also the georgetown law schoolinstitute for allowing us to be here. i'm going to talk about i think what we can expect in judicial races in the wake of citizens united here and we have the same in alabama, let's get paid down where the drunks can get out of. i think what we're going to see is what we thought recently in the last judicial race, say why judicial race in the state of alabama in 2008. we had an open seat on the alabama supreme court. and so they were so no incumbent involved. two judges announced they were going to run against each other for the open seat. one was a district court judge, and other court of criminal appeals judge. between the two of them, they raised and spent $3.8 million. that in and of itself is bad enough. however, in the last week of the campaign, what i want to focus on is what happened with third-party involvement in this race. the so-called independent expenditures. first, one week before the election, a series of ads began to run, praising judge craig shaw who was the republica

georgetown, kentucky is a little town. i was out there when toyota broke ground. there was one traffic light and one mcdonald's. i don't know if you have seen it's a wonderful life. the town is just lit up. traffic and lights. that is what drips down kentucky looks like now. people complain about the traffic. a lot of people are pretty glad there's jobs are there. an example where it has not worked with the san antonio. the toyota plant has trouble getting to full capacity. it was one of the plants that toyota had ten idle during the recession that hat did not build trucks for a while. they essentially had the workers retraining. they had maintenance going on. they essentially retaught their workers how to build trucks during that down period. i think the jury is still out on whether that plant has been a success, but they are trying to make it a success. >> you interviewed the governor for this book. i imagine you interviewed a number of occasions. what you say is that despite her considerable efforts michigan has been somewhat less successful than other states i

it was written in the early 1960s but a well respected professor who taught at georgetown, harvard, princeton all over. his name was carroll quigley. he has mentored people from every president for i don't know how many years. he was also very close mentor to bill clinton. in fact, i believe he was the guy who helped bill clinton become an rhode scholar. he had a better idea than the doomsday device or m.a.d.d. in this book in 1962, '63, somewhere in that area, he said i've working on it and i've just play admin mall role in it. i figured out a way and we put it in and i'm told i can now tell the world what the device is that will stop us from having an all-out world war. the tragedy is world war. the hope was an end to all wars. how did they do it? instead of tying everybody to a master compute they're showed we're going to blow everything up, they decided to tie everybody's econo econom together. no one would go after europe or come after the united states because we'd collapse. if we could tie our economies together. this came out in the early '60s. he said you will no longer see any wars
