it's right before old georgetown road. the tractor trailer jackknifed late last night and the problem here is the axles were broken. they've had a difficult time clearing the rack because they can't get it up easily onto the wreckers on the scene. so we now have a weer here on the scene who are actually slicing into the truck itself. they're going dismantle it and then haul it way. right now we just have one lane getting by to the right. the vacuum is light. it's still early in this morning. the delay is not terrible alt this point, but depending how long it takes them to get this truck out of here, we could see delays for folks this morning. melissa mollet later on is going to have more on this, but for now, back to you in the studio. >>> this is new this morning. the head of a south korean ferry company has been sentenced to seven years in prison. their ferry sank in 2014. you may remember more than 300 people were killed, most of them teenagers. one will go to prison on charges including car including murder. >>> the ju

so in georgetown drivers don't seem to be participating. i recently talked to two local drivers who say there is talk of a strike in the d.c. area but it's not this weekend. it's a possibility for the future. the other driver says i make a lot of money from uber and i'm on their side and said he was not striking. there are calls for a strike nationwide of the uber drivers. reporting live in georgetown, i'm tom roussey, abc7 news. maureen: thanks, tom. metro says a light fixture was responsible for the morning's delays. smoke incident at the foggy bottom station forced single tracking on the orange, blue, silver lines. metro says debris from a light fixture caused that fixture to smolder. they had to shut off power to the track to clear the debris. it will be slow-going for metro riders this weekend. on every line but the green line trains will run only once every 24 minutes. that is to allow for track rebuilding. with some lines single tracking. the green ne runs on its normal weekend schedule. more traffic warnings for you as work begins o

the big problem here is that georgetown is exceptionally at the bottom of a bowl. there are major rivers all around as well as several inlets. one is just here off to my left. and the problem here is that even if the rain isn't torrential, it's still steady and still keeps coming down, so the water really has nowhere to go. just a short while ago, that parking lot you're looking at was mostly dry, now it's inundated because the inlet has come up over its shores. several boats have been stranded on land, and also several cars submerged. and the problem is that there are businesses all along this area. you can see right beside me, several businesses have been flooded. we also swung by city hall earlier in the day and got a chance to speak with the mayor. the parking lot of the city hall was completely under water. and the mayor says he's making a plea for people to please be careful. >> just don't be stupid. i mean that's the thing. we keep saying don't try to drive through flooded areas. we're supposed to get a lot more rain later today. high tide will be about 4:00

just south of myrtle beach, georgetown completely submerged. they have been pumping the water back out into the ocean, but an hour ago was high tide. too many water rescues to count right now. five fatalities mainly due to traffic accidents. they're now calling in crews from tennessee because they're overwhelmed by the number of people who still need help. it is coming down. this stream over to columbia, all the rivers have to flow back toward the ocean. so all the water making its way inland has to come back through. river levels right now are at historic readings. surpassing historic readings. and we still have another 6 possibly localized 10 inches of rain in between charleston and miles per ho myrtle beach to contend with. finally, the area of low pressure over alabama will slide off the coast. but we still have our hurricane passing just west of bermuda. they can handle that but the number of moisture will now get closer up the beaches of delmarva. so more flooding will take place as the hurricane does slowly find it way away from the u.s.
