we all have a portion of old georgetown pike -- or the georgetown pike shut down in each direction and that is due to trees and wires down as well. we are dealing with flooding conditions again between 50 and 704 harmony church road. that's a check of your fox 5 on-time traffic. >>> the sewage treatment system that serves the vast majority of homes in howard county is now back in operation. but here is the thing. tens of millions of gallons of raw sewage discharged before electricity was restored to the plant. >> reporter: officials in howard county call this complex their water reclamation plant because after sewage is treated, the water clean enough to discharge into the little patuxent river. it takes an immense amount of electricity to run this sewage facility so it is supplied by two different electrical feeder lines, one undergrowrpd and another that comes across the river. during the storm on monday, the underground line failed about 8:00 in the evening and the above ground line was knocked down by falling trees around 10:40 p.m. the plant does have a large back-up generator but

we had tree debris reported alike the georgetown pike.problems reported on the major arteries northbound i-95. the crash was before you reach quantico. that should be out of the road. joplin road due to flooding. we saw the portion of route 1 shut down at 286. all of this due to flooding. we are still dealing with 214 at river road. that is blocked off because of flooding. bay bridge remains closed until further notice. we've got clean-up continuing along route 1 due to flooding. there is a portions of 198. that is still shut down between old gunpowder road and sweitzer lane due to storm damage and clean-up. that is what we're finding along 108. the accident was southbound on the bw parkway at 450. that has cleared. 355 remains close off between dr. perry and route 80. if you can stay put, we strongly suggest that you do so. give these crews time to get out there and clean up this mess before you head out in it. if you have to be out on the roads this morning, you will notice that the maryland overhead signs on your interstates and highwa

news4's jackie bensen is along georgetown pike in mclean, virginia, where crews were out working on thees. hi, jackie. >> reporter: hello, doreen. you know, the folks in this neighborhood, take a look at this sign over to my left, they have power. the reason they have power is the hard work that we witnessed a short time earlier. i think we have pictures to show you of the dominion power crews out here just as it was getting dark, after a tree was removed that had fallen down in georgetown court this afternoon when the wind picked up, brought down power lines. those crews got in there, up on the buckets in these high winds in the torrential rain, in a very dangerous job. and worked so they could get the lights back on to the people in this neighborhood. and then they packed up and took off and west to another one. even while this storm is going on, they're working to get the power back on. but the local utilities do tell us that once we get to the very serious part of the wind, it makes that job of going up in the bucket trucks too dangerous and they're not able to do that. again, we're
