in georgia, brian kemp was late to the lockdown, now wants to open up early.same governor surprised to learn that asymptomatic people could spread the disease. weeks after it was widely known. now he's allowing sympathy businesses to reopen, even without consulting his own coronavirus task force. a century ago, politicians didn't have precedence or modern science to learn best practices. but we do now. which makes the prohe test test like members of the flat earth society, competing to win the darwin awards. it is worse that the president has been egging them on with calls to liberate states against the guidance of governors and his own health experts. as harry truman once send, the only thing new in the world is the history you don't know. what is unforgivable is for our leaders to remain ignorant of history and therefore doomed to repeat it. when they succeed it can feel like we have been overreacting and we are making progress against covid-19, bending the curve, but it is not over, not by a long shot. our lives will get back to something resembling normal

a stunning move from georgia's governor brian kemp, announcing his state will allow some businesses, salons, to reopen this week. this comes as georgia has 733 deaths from coronavirus and nearly 19,000 confirmed cases. cnn's amara walker joins me now to discuss. amara, what businesses can open, and when? >> reporter: like you said, it really is an extraordinary move by governor brian kemp of georgia. he's lifting the order is now allowing the incremental ordering of some businesses, and this is statewide. so early as this friday. a few days from now, you could start seeing in georgia some businesses, indoor facilities like barbershops and hair salons, nail salons, gyms, all kinds of fitness centers, bowling alleys, massage therapists, these people going back to work. again, it will be up to the businesses whether or not they will reopen. but they will not be restricted under these shelter-in-place orders that were exposed remain in effect until the end of april. now, as early as monday, we can also start seeing theaters and restaurants reopening. but the governor did say that some of
