where republicans control the state legislature, then followed georgia's lead. and the states would do that that trump would just succeed in making the election results practically not count. tsit was last week when we learned the details of how trump appointee jeff clark at the justice department had written a letter to the republican-led state the state legislature. his letter advise them that the justice department was investigating some serious problem in the election in georgia. the letter further advised them that the georgia legislature should convene itself into a special session to consider changing the states election results. two-cent electors for trump to the electoral college instead of electors for biden. even though biden actually won. now, that letter was not sent because the attorney general and deputy attorney general at the time, refused geoff clark's demand that they sign. that apparently resulted in a showdown where trump try to install jeff clark as attorney general himself. which would have been among other things, that he definitely could'

last night, we tell the story of the letter that clark had drafted to be sent to georgia state officials and he wanted the acting attorney general at this, i'm jeffrey rosen, -- that letter basically said, fine, the department of justice is investigating voting in irregularities. so un georgia should call special session, nick wink wink, nudge nudge, and send all of your electors to washington. so since george is run by republicans, they would be trump electors. that would be a violation of georgia state law, that would be a violation of the will of the, people trump lost the election, it would put the election process into chaos. thankfully, rosen, refused to sign. at the letter was never sent. not for lack of trying though. because the new york times reported that jeffrey clark cooked up a plot with donald trump. madam in person, for trump to fire rosen so that jeffrey park could take his role and send a letter. and it was just won the senior justice of -- we learned something after the show last night, they weren't as targeting georgia. >> it turns out that this guy jeff, was writing

so it would be a violation of georgia state law, a violation of the will of the people, donald trump lost the election in georgia by 11,000 votes. it would throw the post election process into chaos. thankfully jeffrey rosen, the acting attorney general, refused to sign it and the letter was never sent. civil division in trump's justice department writing this letter, essentially telling the state legislature in georgia that they should consider consider the election corrupt because the justice department has looked into it and found all sorts of significant corruption, and, therefore, the state legislature should take matters into their own hands to replace the state's biden electors with trump electors and do it before january 6th when the electoral college votes would be counted. in the letter, jeff clark even spells out that, although it looks, on the surface, like only the governor of georgia could call the legislature back into such a -- a -- a special session, like this, he says it is the opinion of the u.s. department of justice that the legislature can call itself back into session, even without the governor doing anything. they can do that, on their own authority. and remember the note. remember that line, on page four, from the call that happened the previous day. trump assuring the attorney general and deputy attorney general, quote, the georgia legislature is on our side. so the problem
