joining us is georgia tech economics professor, thomas boston. good to see you.been a little while. what do you think this means, this report? what is the significance? >> well, if i were grading this report in my economics 101 class, one that everybody loves to hate. >> good way to put it. >> i would give it a grade of 75. there were some good things that happened and there's still some challenges. on the good side, of course, the headline is that the unemployment rate went down from 9% to 8.6%. we created jobs. so if you look at it overall, this is happening despite the fact that we have all of this crisis in europe around the debt there and we haven't gotten a compromise over the debt here. there's still some investor uncertainty. there's a lot of growth despite all of that. fundamentally the economy is strong. those are the good points. >> now, for the bad stuff. okay. >> the bad stuff. it's not really bad, but there are some challenges. in other words, we created 120,000 jobs. we need about 200,000 jobs to really make a difference in the unemployment. even t

this man -- that term to this man means that he was respected by georgia tech football fans as well as university of georgia football fans. the man i am talking about is larry munson. larry munson was not a southerner by birth but he became a southerner and a georgia bulldog by passion. he was the georgia football announcer for in excess of four decades. during those four decades, he not only witnessed some of the most memorable football games, but he made some of the most memorable calls. his way of describing a football play will go down in the annals of broadcasting as not only being unique, not only being fascinating, but it will go down in the annals of sports broadcasting as being some of the best and most professional calls ever made on a football field. but there was more to larry munson than the ron lindsay run, more to larry munson than the o's to herschel walker, more to larry munson than we just stomped on them with our hob nail boot. he was a man who had passion for life, a man who had a thorough understanding of his profession, a man who worked very hard at his profession

georgia, blocking the left lane. that's a check of the ontime traffic. >>> another shooting rocks the campus of virginia tech university leaving two people dead including a police officer. >> the police officer has been identified as a 39-year-old. apparently ambushed during a traffic stop. we are many the studio now with more. >> reporter: the campus is in mourning. thousands expected tonight at a school-wide vigil. right now, police still don't have a motive, anything that might explain why this happened. police have not found a connection between the officer and the gunman. the 39-year-old was shot inside his car. police say the gunman walked up to him during a routine traffic stop and fired. video from the officer's car shows the shooter with a hand gun. the suspect later found in a parking lot nearby after turning the gun on himself. at the time, students were studying for final exams that were scheduled to start today. they have been postponed until tomorrow as grief counselors on campus help students cope with the shooting. tests show the officer and shooter were killed by the same gun. >> the individual involve
