[laughter] and what was your major? dr. sullivan: i started as a language and linguistics major and was informed that majors like me had to take three science courses in our freshman year. i thought it was a terrible idea, and i argued and fought, and looking back now, i am glad i lost all the arguments. two of the classes were marine science and geology courses and that's where i saw a different way to think about this life of adventure that i was interested in. the two key professors were not a whole lot older than me, they were young faculty, very dynamic and passionate about their subjects. taking this up into the mountains are out to the shoreline every weekend, doing this -- let's see how this works, what is over there? these guys are amazing, they are having so much fun. my french
