the fox business network's gerri willis is with us now. a bad start to the week and the profit report of things coming up doesn't help out much. earnings per share. that's what companies will be reporting over the next several weeks. we get that started tomorrow. it's not looking good. in fact, for the first quarter we are expecting increase of earnings in 0.95%. just barely a percentage point. expectations much higher than that, in fact, we were expecting maybe 4.5% as recently as january. not so much. and as you know, what sent stocks higher when earnings expectations rise. >> >> shepard: gerri, thank you. remember aol just made a million-dollar deal with microsoft by agreeing to sell hundreds of patents and related applications. the struggling internet company will get $1.1 billion for the portfolio. microsoft gets nonexclusive rights to other technologies and international property. the cash infusion sending aol shares up more than 40% on today's session alone. at&t customers can now unlock their iphones and switch to another carrier.
