rose and she said everybody knows who gertrude brooke was. so, that just tells you this woman was incredibly famous and i didn't know. i had never heard of her so that was the first thing. the second thing from the research wasar that we were talking about the character betty white played on the mary tyler moore show. great character that had a homemaking show on the station where mary works and she was a very sweet character in front of the camera and the minute the camera went off, she was a different person. before we had even described her as a betty white type and i thought i have no idea what you mean. i didn't know her until the 70s so i was like what is that. i looked it up and it turned out this was a joke about her character from the 40s and 50s when she would be on the los angeles daytime talk show so i was like how interesting and that one led me to do a little more research and reading. that is how i came to this idea and it's from there that i made this gigantic list where i began and throughout the book i mentioned a number of
