there is no park at gettysburg. bachelder is doing this all at his own expense so he obviously has to make a living at it, but what webb learns about bachelder is, this guy really wants to do this. he wants to mark this field. he is sincere in his purpose. and others are going to discover that as well. now, just to get an idea of how the detail that they went to, this is just an excerpt, they had a stenographer with the group who went out with him. the first day he went out the notes are fantastic. the notes are at gettysburg national military park library. they're very interesting. so for example, the 11th stake that they drive into the ground is the right of the 149th pennsylvania noon july 1st, 1863. the 12th stake is the left of the 143rd pennsylvania, 12:00 noon, also they add the note the regiment swung around from the rise to the point just to the left of the 12th stake. that's the type of detail that they were doing at this meeting of officers, and then on the battlefield and it goes on and on from there. wh
