of course, we get these geyer warnings coming out this morning about meat, still the centerpiece of most american diets. the world health organization reviewing the data and finds troubling links to colon cancer and possibly other cancers, as well. abc's linsey davis with the details. >> reporter: alarming news about foods so many of us eat every day. bacon, hot dogs, lunch meat, all now classified in the same category as cigarettes and asbestos. they can cause cancer, according to the world health organization, and that's not all. the w.h.o. advisory committee also finding that unprocessed red meat is probably carcinogenic. the report, which was based on an analysis of more than 800 studies, asserts that simply eating 50 grams of processed meat each day can increase the risk of colon cancer by 18%. here's some food for thought. the 50 grams cited in the report is the equivalent of 1.8 ounces of meat. but a typical deli sandwich has more than 4.5 ounces of meat. and this is what 1.8 ounces looks like. according to the report, 34,000 cancer deaths could be attributed to diets high in proc
