i know that we had been discussing earlier the ggnra and the cliffs. it's going to continuously become an issue for our department. i studied this issue about a year ago, and it's a complex issue. it's many different stations that respond to the cliffs. it's not just us, so i had suggested the mayor put together a task force to come up with some of the different issues. some of our people are having a hard time finding people. i think drones would be a good idea, as well. i wrote a resolution, and i owe it to madam secretary and i'll get it to you sometime in the next week. it's basically urging the mayor to put together this committee to actually do this. the second resolution i'd like to introduce is -- and i rempsed remp rempsed it earlier -- referenced it earlier, the discussion of cancer has come up a lot of times in this department. what i would like to do is -- and i'll have -- i may have discussed this briefly with you, chief, before, and i don't think it would be controversial to do, but i would like to setup an accord of sorts, like the paris

this is a material that's been used a lot within the ggnra. and this example on the right is from a field that's a paving material that also meets the accessibility requirements and is approved by the department df public works as well. and then we have concrete paving, which there are really two types. there's a standard concrete paving and in certain locations there's enhanced concrete paving, that will include integral color and/or a sand blast or water wash finish. these paving materials are used in pedestrian areas, where there's a desire to have a little bit more of a variety in terms of the aesthetic quality of the paving service. and then asphalt, which is used primarily for the bikeways and in some cases for park pedestrian pathway. and then concrete unit pavers, which are used in a few select areas in plazas and event spaces, most notably at the waterfront plaza at the ferry and the building one plaza and then a few locations within certain of the parks. and then, lastly, compacted earth trails, which are limited to the natural areas

i'm also on the executive committee along with several department heads as members with the ggnra and other city agencies, so we've been reviewing that work for a long time. as a reminder, this is the part of ocean beach south of sloat that is most vulnerable to sea level rise and storm surge. the storms the last month had a substantial effect down there. this is one phase of a multiphase project. eventually as was said, this part of the highway goes away and becomes a trail. so the staffs of the organizations have been working with the zoo and others about access to the zoo, the parking lot, and so on. so this becomes the first phase of a multiphase project to make that happen. >> president melgar: thank you. commissioner johnson? >> commissioner johnson: thank you. just want to thank the department of public works for eliminating for the public on what's happening, and also, director rahaim for leading this collaborative process, and i move to approve with conditions. >> second. >> clerk: commissioners, there is a motion and a second to approve with conditions. on that motion -- [ro
