gharahbaghian. dr. gar bharahbaghianbaharahbagn seeing in hospitals? what's the current situation look like with so many icus at zero percent capacity? >> i'm afraid to say it's gone from bad to worse. the amount of patients that need the icu is increasing. our floor beds are turning into icus. elective surgeries are cancelled and the emergency departments are holding patients waiting for a hospital bed for multiple hours and sometimes days. and there are some places where their emergency department is so full that they have created a tent-style field hospital in front of their emergency department in order to see patients. ambulances are unable to deliver patients in a timely manner to emergency departments because they're so full and sometimes they have to wait several hours. and there are hospitals like my own who, although were at capacity, were not as horrific as some of the other rege snion hospitals that we have. so we are accepting patients in order to balance it out amongst ourselves. and we anticipate that it's going to get worse come january

laleh gharahbaghian. doctor, we just passed 300,000 covid deaths in this country. what are you seeing right now where you are? >> it's not great. the hospitals in our region including our own are full. icus are at capacity. elective surgeries are being cancelled. the number of covid positives are increasing every day and the curve has not flattened. so we're in the trenches and we're exhausted. >> that is tough to hear. moving onto the vaccine, how do we know the vaccine is getting to the places that need it the most and how will most americans know when they can get it? >> i have to commend fedex and ups. they essentially split the country into two and they shipped 5 million with priority access at the airport to avoid any delays. each of those packages will have high-tech tracking devices for monitoring of those packages to ensure delivery and the safety of the product. also the vaccine is being distributed as planned. >> what do we know about immunity after you get the second shot? >> we know that given the timeline of the trials that it at least lasts for about
