governors gianforte represent a montana in the u.s. house of representatives after 34 years in the private-sector where he was a highly successful software engineer. ensuring house affordability is a national challenge. it is especially difficult one in montana which has become one of the nations fastest growing states, perhaps vi own success but an attractive place to live and work. with housing demand exceeding supply rents and home sale prices the state have risen dramatically over the past several years. governor gianforte has made identifying and advancing bipartisan solutions and housing affordability challenge top priority. two years ago he created a housing task force with a broad mandate to make housing more affordable and attainable for montanans. recommendations of this task force the efforts of the montana legislature have already a series of new laws that streamline the housing development process and reformsd land use in the state. some have dubbed it the montana miracle. governor want making housing a top priority and i

montana governor greg gianforte is the first to do this in his state, ban tik tok in his state. he still is having a devil of a time trying to get that through and make it happen in his state. when i spoke with him earlier today, he said that is the goal and we should do it nationwide. take a look. >> chinese communist party has used these platforms to spy on americans. china is not our friend. i applaud the house for taking the bipartisan action that they did today. >> neil: this could endanger other social sites and an avalanche going after social media. what do you think of that argument? >> well, i think this action is restricted to foreign adversaries. we don't want them to have inroads on our mobile devices to spy on americans. that's simple. divest it, continue to use tik tok. this is a multifaceted approach. >> neil: all right. before there was montana governor gianforte, there was the former number number governor, pete ricketts that banned it. senator, very good to have you. >> thanks for having me on. yes, i was the first governor to ban tik tok on our state devices.

. >> i want to go to governor gianforte to talk about what he got done and how he got it do >> thankd with the problem in montana. everybody decided they wanted to move to the most beautiful state. >> they are the most beautiful in my own minds. >> they wereil it is all about it in wyoming. wyoming. we recognized moving on that this is the number one issue. moving into the communities, there wasn't enough supply. it is primarily a supply what we did. we have the incredible blessing, power of legislature meets for 90 days every two years. we had a tight window. in august, prior to that legislative session, a task force on housing, it was a really broad section, folks from the building industry, realtors, county commissioners, city officials, state officials, nonprofit leaders from habitat for humanity and i give them a charge to cast a broad net and we went in and o october, into the legislative session in january and essentially ran the tape and got great results. in year we've seen average rental prices come down 20% in our largest communities. average vacancy rates just over one% w
