i'm gianna franco. and we begin with raging wildfires destroying communities in southern california. at least 30,000 people are out of their homes this morning as flames race through neighborhoods in los angeles. >> yeah, race and rip apart. i'm reed cowan. thank you so much for joining us this morning. we know you are waking up so hear about this state tragedy. overnight, so many people on the run. unrelenting winds fueled by a fire storm. so the palisades fire exploded in size overnight. 3,000 acres burned there. in suburbs and the foothills of the san gabriel mountains, the eaton fire burning more than 2200 acres and near at dina prompting frantic evacuations. you can see homes just destroyed in minutes and another wildfire burning near sill mar. that one is currently 500 acres. the people in southern california are going to need a lot of help and to that point, governor gavin newsom declaring a state of emergency overnight. that unlocks additional state resources and assistance from the california o

gianna? >>> thank you.re if you are getting ready to take public transit this morning. this is a look at the b.a.r.t. station near the coliseum there. and you can see it's, you know, the roadways around there not too bad as far as being busy and no delays or issues for b.a.r.t. this morning which is great news. going to the airport, not too far from there, you should be good to go and you can see there on the platform, it's pretty quiet overall. so good news there. okay. let's jump to our maps right now and talk about 808 which isn't far from there. this is near the coliseum. if you are headed along 880 both directions, moving along pretty well gets slower into hayward and at the bay bridge toll plaza, metering lights are on. and yeah, all the approaches, if you are headed westbound 80, that's the slowest right now. there are some hotspots on the richmond-san rafael bridge also. but looks like that 580 and 8808 approach moving along okay for now. we'll let you know when that changes. >>> this weekend the po

gianna? >>> all right, reed, over in san francisco, the city is just a day away from welcoming its new mayor. mayor-elect lurie will kick off his inauguration events tonight with an interfaith ceremony at congregation emmanuel at 6:00. lurie will officially take office at 9:00 tomorrow morning. day of celebrations will conclude with an evening event in chinatown. san francisco will also seat a new board of supervisors tomorrow. among the departures is one of the longest serving politicians in city history. aaron peskin may have lost the mayor's race but he's not walking away from city politics entirely. wilson walker spoke with him about his tenure and what's next. >> here's my -- last gavel to be be-- oh no. yeah, january 8th: 2025. >> reporter: supervisor aaron peskin's personal office in north beach is looking a little more like a kind of museum now stacked with artifacts from a one-of-a-kind political career. >> my certificate of honor from the city attorney when i left office last time.

gianna? >>> let's look at the roadways. bay bridge toll plaza metering lights are on and we kind of, you know, typically start off with a look at the toll plaza as you head into san francisco. sort of sets the tone of where we're at for the morning drive and you can see traffic is already busy and it's tuesday morning. so one of the busier days when it comes to the roadways. backed up almost to the maze at this point. and 880, looking crowded here also especially on the northbound side. headlights heading northbound into oakland. this is near the coliseum and southbound commuters you are okay here until south of here over into hayward. where things start to slow down approaching 92. so it's the usual hotspots this morning. that drive into the altamont pass is the slow one and we're also seeing some brake lights westbound 80. there's a crash in san pablo that is slowing things down through there. richmond-san rafael bridge busy westbound and out of the south bay actually doing okay. right now so far, so good. it's not going

over to you gianna. >>> let's talk about the roadways . the bay bridge told metering lights remain on and it is slow heading into san francisco this morning. no crashes on the upper deck and that will help, if you are headed into the city. but the backup is building our seeing it onto westbound 80, it has been busy anyway this morning. if you are taking 880 north or south bound that is moving okay to oakland to southbound, hayward into fremont you have pockets of slowing as well or south 680 from the dublin interchange. westbound 80 has a serious crash at carlson boulevard, hoping to get more from chp as to when lanes will open. there are a couple open to traffic is backing up out of san pablo into richmond as they clear the crash. here is the good news for the morning commute, if you are waking up early and getting ready to make the commute across some of our san jose freeways, it is clear on 101, 280 and on 85, no delays. >>> one week from today, donald trump will be our nation's ex-president and this morning 13 cabinet nominees gear up
