giants win it here tonight. why don't we give you a look back at some of the history of this giants organization. the giants the polo grounds, the catch in the 1954 world championship, pulled up stakes in new york and led the major league expansion west for the 1958 season. unfortunately baseball's manifest test any has not included much winning for the giants or the city of san francisco. the bitter rivalry with the hated dodgers has always tilted south. and, yes, the players are legendary. the say hey kid, marichal, mccovey, orlando cepeda, will, the thrill, and being thrilled by two generationings of bonds. but the highs have always been a precurser to that memory. 62 sad and sudden ending. the tragedy and misery of october 17, 1989. and coming so close in 2002. even breaking baseball's most hallowed record brought uncomfortable questions. at times it seemed the franchise was faced with the cold reality that it was no one more for where it played than how it performed. after over 50 years of san francisco gia
