today the committee is meeting to consider the nomination of gigi sohn. this committee has held to previous hearings on the nomination and as we know a lot about her background, views and important transparency issues,ed we thank her for being here today. if we want someone on the federal communications commission who is truly committed to the job then i believe ms. sohn fits that bill. she has a very long history being part of a process at the fcc, and she's qualified. she will help deliver for the american people, and she has a keen and i own something all members of the committee care passionately about, and that is affordable, accessible broadband. thank you for your leadership and advocacy on that issue. although she's been before the committee, she has now been criticized for important policies like standing up for free speech. i want to thank you for your policy position knowing that some people like justice gore such or rand paul or others believe in the amendment thank you for articulating those views as well. these personal attacks are a distrac

that you can learn from other states and when you do something wrong you don't have to do it, when gigi sohnou can look at what others have done. you mention occupational licensing and that led me to a question that is sort of tied in with that and caterers got a new series of papers about new american workers. one of the things we talk to his college degree requirements to get specialty jobs in government but also licensure that would require for maybe not good reasons, maybe not actually seen the degree means you can do something. is that something your workout? >> i think we didn't address that because we had to look inside and see what our requirements were. a college degree was a big part of that requirement and so i think we haven't we will. we've done so much in less couple of years. we've got another proposal that would working on right now, red tape or you put a moratorium on any rules or regulations and then we're having each agency review every rule that they have in their department and if it meets the new standard they can be renewed, otherwise it's not going to be renewed. we w
