gilbert brigham to the podium. so today i'm honoring gilbert brigham and i know as gil and he has been there providing senior services for many many years probably about 30 years 3 decades maybe okay not quite so gilbert was born in harlem in new york during the great depression and was raised by his mother and grandfather while his father lived mainly in chicago despite being surrounded by poverty gilbert and his family had middle class values. mr. brigham went to catholic school and object contained a certificate of attendance but no diploma because his family was unable to afford tuition payments. his life turned when he enlisted into the navy during the korean war and almost rejected because of high school and graduation documents. on duty in the navy he served in a cb which built bases and spent his service in the philippines and this period of his life was eye opening and very much fulfilling. he had rapid promotions and after 8 years in the navy and honorable ly discharged in san francisco where his ship fig
