upper 80s in gilroy for the gilroy garlic festival.cooling down and we need it away from the water. concord right now at 7:00 is still 100 degrees. cooler near the water, with san francisco at 59. livermore the 7th day this year you have hit triple digits but last year you did it 19 times. so we still have a lot of catching up to do. livermore likely going to do it twice more this week tomorrow and friday. allow cloud cover at the san francisco bay but toasty away from the water. the onshore flow is there but it's weak and a shallow marine layer, couple of00 feet so the coast stays chilly with temperatures only in the 50s and 60s but you can almost double those numbers inland. we'll see triple digits once again. futurecast says fog tonight absolutely. some cloud cover passing over the bay area but the big deck of clouds is sitting offshore. it's going to stay there and hug the coastline for the better part of tomorrow where temperatures may not hit 60 in places like ocean beach and pacifica and half moon bay. we all cool down not just

let's start off with gilroy. many people drive from the gilroy area through morgan hill.t is a decent commute from gilroy to san jose through morgan hill. i want to mention that things are beginning to wake up when it comes to the morning commute. looking at the commute as you drive on westbound 92. not a bad drive it coming up through the pay gates. traffic is moving along okay. i wanted to update you on a situation getting up to the caldecott tunnel. we had an earlier issue, eastbound 24 for gateway east abound. that was not affecting the westbound commute but you may see lights there. westbound bay bridge as you come up to the toll plaza -- that is okay getting into the city. >>> we have a bigger fog bank and a stronger breeze. it does look cooler for some inland. the coast will not change. the water temperatures are too cool. yesterday it was clear but we now have low clouds moving over the bay. we still have a hurricane, category 2, winds of 100 miles per hour. that is expected to weaken over the next 24 or 48 hours. the current track takes it north of the islands. i

drivers will pay to get into the parking lot at the gilroy garlic festival this year. visitors say traffic is already hectic, and some worry the method will have drivers waiting bumper to bumper. but festival planners say the fee will not affect traffic. >> people are going to just follow the flow of traffic into the parking lot, like any special event. we're already selling the parking online with the online tickets and everybody's paying it, so we're not seeing any pushback or any problem with it. >> reporter: the fee is not the only change this year. the garlic train is back. the train will offer people a nonstop ride from downtown san jose to gilroy. >>> there's that champion belt right there. championship trip in san francisco, it wasn't for the giants or for the 49ers. this is for san jose's joey chestnut, celebrating his return to glory. on the fourth of july, chestnut reclaimed the title in the nation's hot dog eating contest. if you can believe it, he scarfed down a record 70 dogs in nine minutes. he rode into the procession on a special hot dog-themed float.

it is warm in gilroy.er christian is here with the forecast. >>> well it is going to be less toasty into the weekend than it has been the last few days. the triple-digit weather is going away. a live look at lar doppler 7 hd and a few locations have hit triple-digits in the bay area and the outbreak of summer afternoon thunderstorms over in the sierra. mainly in the eastern slopes. so back to the bay area. this is at the golden gate bridge with fog lowering and thickening. these are the forecast features. we'll see fog overnight near the coast and bay. cooler days lie ahead this weekend and we'll have a seasonal pattern through next week. now overnight, we'll see low temperatures mainly in the upper 50 toss low 60s in the inland east bay which is the mildest region of the bay area. mid to upper 50s around the bay and low 50s in the north bay valleys and along the coastline. here is the forecast animation at 11:00 tonight the fog filling in and pushing over the bay and locally inland. so the day will begin

we are going to start in the gilroy commute, guys. gilroy to san jose. northbound 101 that traffic is looking good. there are no major problems driving to morgan hill and the traffic is moving along fine. there is a stalled car on the bay bridge. this is separate from the crash we had earlier. and this is now becoming another backup. i think the bay bridge is determined to have a bad day it seems. still not a big delay at the bay bridge toll plaza. traffic is still moving through. we can look at toll plaza and it is light here. before long i think we will see a backup here if that backup on the bridge doesn't get taken care of. at 5:19 let's bring in steve. >> thank you, sal. >>> good morning everybody. yesterday was hot for some and very cool for others. there are significant changes here for a cool down for many. now i know it takes a little bit for vacaville and clearlake but there are some hints that it will be even cooler out there today. yesterday santa rosa was 92. there low clouds. low clouds came flying into the north bay. concord 99 down to 92.
