let's go to len ramirez in gilroy. >> reporter: there was a conference in gilroy a short time ago with the fbi confirming they've opened a domestic terrorism case in the gilroy garlic shooting and that the suspect adhered to several violent ideologies. they went through his computers and phones and online accounts. 19-year-old santino legan shot himself in the head after being wounded by gilroy police and the fbi special agent in charge, john bennett, also confirmed that the suspect also had a target list of many other potential victims in addition to the garlic festival. >> is organizations from across the country include religious institutions, federal buildings, political organizations from both major political parties and the gilroy garlic festival. mitigated by the death of the subject but the fbi has a responsibility to notify individuals and organizations of potential threats for acts of violence. >> reporter: the fbi said a lot but would not say specifically what violent ideologies the suspect may have adhered to and they said it appeared he had been going between one or the ot

shooting in gilroy continues.nd the gilroy police are still at the festival site there is some good news vendors who had to flee the festival on sunday are being allowed to return to pick up r >>people lined up to be escorted on to the festival grounds to retrieve items but only from certain areas. many vendors make a living moving from festival to festival during the summer. we talked with one vendor who said this is really slow down some people. >>and they have to the next defense so they're now at. doubles down the line maybe a month so they get their items back. >>they they should receive it back but if your food product or. >>something that spoiled. i mean just claim the insurance claims will probably take a while. now personal items are being taken to wreck or elementary school to the family assistance center people can pick them up there, but those items which are still in the active investigation area may not be available until the investigation is complete. and right now there's no word on just how long t

in gilroy. the teenage gunman had a hit list. the fbi is investigating this as a domestic terrorism case. >> we hear from his family for the first time since this tragedy. we have a team of reporters working all angles of the story. >> reporter: more than one week after the shooting, the fbi has wrapped up operations here. you can see it's still not open to the public. the fbi confirmed today not only did the shooter plan to target the garlic festival, but he was also considering other possible targets nationwide, including religious and political groups. this morning, investigators revealed the gilroy gunman fired 39 shots, kng it was one of several troubling details, including the fact that he was wearing a bullet resistant vest and had plenty of backup ammo, including two 40-round magazine strs strapped his body. >> i'm thankful that 39 rounds was all he was able to fire before the officers were able to neutralize him. >> reporter: three police officers fired 18 shots at the gunman, hitting h
