so justice ginsberg last year said, "one could safely predict that next term will be a momentous one." and i think the cases you're going to hear about today, travel ban, cake shop, redistributing, all the different cases really do underscore it. it was a very, very big term. numerically it was not. there were only 60 cases decided, which is a historically low number, but in terms of what they decided, it was a big deal. and it was also a big deal because i think the roberts court, ever since his confirmation hearing, he's really tried to steer the court toward unanimity wherever possible. i think three years ago they agreed two-thirds of the time. you have to go back to 1940 the finest similar example, or two terms ago when it was 59% agreement, but this term was not like that. this term, the rate of unanimity was only 39%, and you would have to go back to the year 2008 to find a similar low rate of unaninimity. the court was divided along somewhat predictable lines. we have seen these kind of voting lineups in the past. we know who agrees and disagrees with each other. it happened a
