it turns out that justice ginsberg and justice o'connor share an unusual distinction and that is interesting nicknames. when justice o'connor was confirmed she earned the moniker fwoc for first woman on the supreme court. justice ginsburg has been crowned the notorious rbg. i'll leave it to you to decide which one is catchier. they share a lifelong commitment to expanding opportunities for women. it makes sense when justice ginsburg joins justice o'connor on the bench in 1993, the two bonded over their historic role in transforming the supreme court. both justices had to overcome discrimination and professional rejection, but justice o'connor once put a helpful spin on it if they had come of age when women could easily be lawyers, she told justice ginsburg, they would probably end up as retired partners at some law firm. but because that route was not open to us, justice o'connor explained, we had to find another way and we both ended up in the united states supreme court. one woman they inspired was a young attorney in manhattan. she had been working in the da's office in 1981 when she hear

. >>> also breaking, ruth bader ginsberg is out of the hospital and recovering at hole following her latest health scare. he's odd mitted to the hospital friday night after chills and fever. the court spokesperson said ginsburg is doing well after receiving i've antibiotics and iv fluids. cnn supreme court analyst joan joins me now. and joan, as we point out, this is the fourth health scare in just over a year. as her health issues mount, are there, i guess growing concerns that she may consider retiring from the bench? >> there certainly are concerns, given the fact that she's the senior liberal on a very divided bench. she's a women's rights icon in america now. there have been health concerns from her since 199 when she had cancer. she survived. in 2009 she survived the first pancreatic cancer. she keeps coming back. granted, you've made a strong point about how we've had so many more health scares just in the last year. but she says she's going to keep going no matter what. she says she actually feels her health improves as she settles down to the mission of her work on the supre

justice ruth bader ginsberg is recovering at home following another health care scare.admitted to john's hopkins hospital after she experienced chills and fever on friday. it is just about a year since she was hospitalized at least four times in the year including having two cancerous nodules removed from her lung last december. for more on the implications of all of this, i'm joined by supreme court analyst joan biskupic. it's been a challenging year for the justice and her health. how concerned are democrats about her ability to continue to serve on the court? >> well, yes, democrats are nervous. first of all, i have to say martin, she's a hero to them. they want her to stay alive and well. she's the senior liberal on the bench. if she were to fill the need to step down, it would transform this supreme court. but you know, they've been an t anxious about it. she took a bit of a chance when she declined to step down during president obama's tenure which would have given him an opportunity to appoint someone younger while he was in office. but she has felt a mission in

they were predictable, justices like ruth bader ginsberg and sotomayor not liking how they were tryingrescind this obama program. then you have justices on the far right, gorsuch, and joined presumably by clarence thomas who already has shown that he's on that side. and right smack in the middle, when you go in and look up, it's john roberts. john roberts voted against a version of this program back in 2016 when it was parents of u.s. citizens whose deportation was being deferred. in a couple different turns, he mentioned the fact that the administration might have been right to believe that this childhood arrivals program known as daca would be unlawful the way the parental program was. but he didn't fully tip his hand. he asked questions about latitude in general and the agency heads in this, and about consequences. he asked questions about consequences. one other caution i would give here is that the chief doesn't fully show his hand. and last term, at the end of the census case, we were all ready to say he was siding with the trump administration about the citizenship query, and, i
