. >> detainees at gitmo, what kind of problems is the administration facing closing this prison. >> the principle problem is trying to find a home for these detainees. to my knowledge there hasn't been a single senator that said i think it's a good idea, my constituents think it's a good idea to put them on my soil in our state. there's pushback the president is getting about closing down guantanamo, a lopsided congressional vote to allocate -- it sounds like a lot of money but it isn't in the scheme of things, $80 million for the purpose of closing down guantanamo got voted down massively. lots of resistance. >> of the 220, how many were the types of hardened criminals, not to be put behind a maximum security wall, out there in society. >> it's difficult to say. most of them, half of them, we've released others before and encountered them on the battlefield, there having taken up arms against us again in achlgt the fact is we're down to a relatively small number who ought to be released. some of the ways in which we've been thinking about is to send them to third party countries but th

. >> do you think there's an unreal expectation, though, of the whole process of closing gitmo?re's no debate. even a debate in the administration whether they should have set that deadline. there are those who say by setting the deadline, even if they don't make it, they force swift action. if they hadn't set a deadline, it would be not six months late but six years late. there are others who say it was naive, there was nowhere to put these people but it stirred the political pot unnecessarily when they could have maybe moved a little more behind the scenes rather than set a date certain. i think there are two sides so too that department. >> the core, how many are we talking about here, a lot, just a few? do we know? >> it looks right now like the number is 50 or 60. the problem is they are all different. in some cases the files have actually been left in disarray, so it's taken them sometime to figure out what to do with these people or who they are. the problem with many of them is either they cannot be released, cannot be transferred to a third country because they are so d
