beach. that's our other big story this evening, big waves slamming the shore, a high surf warning remaining in effect with dangerous conditions up and down the northern california coastline. a plate glass window at this pacifica restaurant was no match for the waves. the owner at moonrakers arrived this morning to find the ocean facing window completely smashed and the interior soaked by seawater. it's the second time big waves have busted through this glass in less than two years. then these big wave surfers couldn't wait to get on the water. this is what it looked like from chopper 5 at mavericks. monster swells rolling in near half moon bay, the organizers of the big wave challenge cancelling the competition because the waves were just too big and unpredictable. check out these pictures of a 47-foot coastguard vessel a few days ago. these were training exercises off of ocean beach. the boat is designed to withstand that pounding surf, but it was tossed around like a toy and viciously battered by the big waves giving the coastguard members from the golden gate station quite a ride. now whenever people are told to stay away from the beach, some just can't resist that urge to see the m
