it was a dramatic scene in glen burnie last night. this morning, investigators are piecing together exactly what happened. megan gilliland joins us live from the scene with more, good morning, megan. >> reporter: good morning, patrice. we're live along alviton road and starwood drive. this is the area where the officer was patrolling last night when he noticed a man jumping up and down on top of a van. when the suspect saw the officer he jumped off and a female inside of that van then got out. that is when investigators say the suspect began assaulting theher. the officer asked him to stop when he didn't the officer deployed his taser gun. police say that was not stopping the suspect. >> the suspect picked up an unknown object from the road and began waiving it over his head. the victim was attempting to flee the area. the suspect began advancing with that object waiving it toward the officer. the officer began fearing for his life shot a fire and struck the suspect, the suspect continued to advance, the officer continued fire a secon

northwest of dc is in shock after a late- night party turned tragic. 21-year-old tyrone hall of glen burnies in jail tonight after police say he shot two of his classmates in the stomach. police say a group of students confronted hall at his home because it was believed he assaulted a woman at the party. police say a fight broke out and hall fired two rounds fatally shooting 21-year-old, brandon carroll, of waldorf and injurying the 21-year-old, ellis hartridge of dc. both victims were basketball players at the school. all three are students of frostburg state university. the school's president released this state this evening. i wish to offer my deepest condolences to the family of brandon carroll. the entire university community is behind them during this incredibly tragic time. we will feel the impact of his loss for a very long time. hall has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and two counts of assault. >> reporter: police recovered a shotgun from his home. the last murder that happened on campus was nearly three decades ago. >>> tonight, 80% of the european air space remains c
