. >> jon: joining us now glen hall u.s. news editor for the "wall street journal." yes, many pressing security issues facing our country. is that what the president is referring to? >> that's anybody's guess really. a nice cliffhanger he left us with. one thing i can tell you is the white house did put out a brief statement summarizing last night's dinner and it mentioned conversations related to iran, north korea, isis and afghanistan where we know the president has also talked about bringing more action to bear. so it could be any of those things as we are just discussing. >> jon: a lot of storm clouds brewing and this is the calm the president says. what about isis? are there indications that there might be action coming against isis that this is referring to? >> certainly the president mentioned that as well saying that there is stuff the media will be learning about actions related to isis. so that was a clue perhaps but he also said something similar about expecting to hear on his policy related to iran in the coming days. there are a couple of things where he

glen hall is editor of the "wall street journal" and joins me now. thank you for talking to us. the timing in all of this is just so obvious. let's just start the past week. last week president trump said he wouldn't be holding back the jfk files from being released unless it raised national security concerns. a week later we're learning the files are being delayed due to national security concerns. what national security issues do you think there are. the documents include redacting information at the request of the f.b.i. and the c.i.a. >> the sources that have been talking to the "wall street journal" about that question say there is still concern about the identities of people who worked with investigators, the roles that they played, these confidential informants and also the cooperation with foreign intelligence. there are certain need to maintain the integrity of those sources that i think are the concerns that are chiefly being examined. >> the question really is are they holding these files back out of national security or embarrassment? because it was the c.i.a. and th

"wall street journal" editor glen hall. glen, we experienced that kind of growth, despite hurricanes in latest quarter. we're doing this all without tax cuts. so it might not be all that crazy to think we could go beyond 3%, but what do you think? >> the first part is absolutely true. with these two hurricanes. there is some subdued consumer spending, reduction in business spending, overall at very strong levels, it suggests we have resilient economy, fundamentals are strong. we have two quarters in a row. that is the best performance above 3% since 2014. neil: right. >> if they keep at that pace, it looks good for the fourth quarter, there will be additional hurricane spending coming into the fourth quarter, that rebound. neil: yeah. >> we may have a strong year that gets us to average close to, maybe not above, close to 3% for the year. neil: they build in afterrings, if we average 2% growth prior, 3%, seems to speak of 2 1/2, three, extra dollars over the economy. i don't know how reliable, 4%, it is five trillion. do you

glen hall, u.s. news editor of the "wall street journal." thank you for joining us. let me ask you. first of all this is the point at which the math becomes important. there are two ways to get there in terms of how they reconcile the numbers in reconciliation. the house is looking at tying $203 billion in spending cuts to this. the senate budget looks to open alaskan land oil production. do those things make it work? >> there is a lot of calculations being done here. some are willing to let the deficit go up in order to get the tax cuts as low as possible and there are others who just do not agree. it needs to be revenue neutral. you have to find the revenue savings elsewhere. and that might come from things like how much of a deduction do you allow for home mortgages or state and local income taxes and do you remove some of those deductions. there is a lot still to be figured out in terms of what it will look like in a tax bill that comes out of the house versus the senate. >> melissa: from a math point of view one of the problems i have with it the fact they do the static account

kari hall is tracking the weather, what the firefighters are facing and mike is on the road closures still under way. >> bob redell kicks off coverage from glen ellen in sonoma county, in an area where there are new evacuation orders there. bob? >> reporter: good morning. we are san witched between highway 12 and the nuns fire burning behind me outside glen ellen. they have a sonoma valley fire truck here. some of the firefighters asleep, one is awake, on watch to make sure as the fire heads in our direction, which is toward the west, down the hill, they would be ready to lay water on that fire. right now, he says this fire is moving towards the right side of your tv screen, which would be the southern direction and it's hard to see in the dark. you can see flames and if you were to look from left to right, you could look probably to the north about a good quarter mile and there's a lot of red up there. that gives ewe sense of how vast the fire is, the nuns fire. as the firefighters tell us, it is heading to the south. that's why you have new, mandatory evacuations put into effect overnight for the people in the hills here. mainly talking moo
