glen canyon. in transportation options, to have such a great abundance of transportation options is special. there is a bart station, a number of bus lines and the j. church can next to glen park. the freeway access to 280 -- this is a picture of one of the first electric streetcars in the city built at the turn of the century. we talked about this last time. this is transit first period when the real-estate developers decided to bring people into their area, they would build of the transit line. this is an interesting digram from a feasibility study we conducted about a year ago. it shows how people arrive at the bart station. there are approximately 9000 transit riders they use the small area around the station every day. what is amazing is that about 80% of them are arrived not by car. over half of them arrive by walking. glen park is a strong and engaged community. there is a sense of ownership and sense of pride in the neighborhood. there are a number of community facilities like the library, the recreation center, and a number of schools. while it is a cherished neighborhood, it faces some significant challenges. one of the challenges is that it is such a small area, the

bart. san francisco police are searching for the vandals that caused major damage to the glen park station. ktvu tara moriarty is at the scene with details on when it happened. good morning, tara. >> reporter: good morning. if you take a look at the wall it appears that vandals started to spray paint the word oscar grant but then rushed off. most of the damage is inside. it happened around just before 10:00 last night when 20-30 people rushed into the glen park station dressed in hoodies and armed with hammers. they smashed two ticket vending machines, all seven clipper card reefers. they were part of a splinter group from that earlier protest. just after 5:00 last night, this was the scene at the powell street station. police eventually closed in on the demonstrators here shutting down the station for two hours and arresting 30 people. bart officials said previously they would allow protests as long as they happened in the free speech area. >> we are doing exactly what they said we could. >> reporter: protesting? >> yeah. outside the fair gates in a free speech zone. >> reporter: demonstra
