crews are battling a blaze at a home in the 8600 block of lesley avenue in glenarden. multiple people have been pulled from the home. john gonzalez is on his way to the scene. we will have a live report in our next hour. we begin with what prince george's county police are calling a tragic accident. officers say a 3-year-old boy was hit and killed by a car. >> this happened wednesday night at an apartment complex on audrey lane in oxon hill. the boy and his grandmother were inside a car when suddenly it started rolling backward. it's not clear exactly where the two were sitting in the car. the boy's father was outside the car holding his two year-old daughter. when he saw what was happening he dropped his daughter, tried to stop the car. that's when the boy fell out of the car and was hit and killed. neighbors are stunned. >> it's tragic. the kids come out and play, but i did not think nothing like that would happen. >> the boy's father suffered from minor injuries along with his young daughter when he dropped her in an effort to stop the car. police are investigating

crews are on the scene on leslie avenue in glenarden. the call for the fire came in about 30 minutes ago. we are checking on reports that an adult and child have been hurt and others may be trapped inside the home. we'll share more on this story as soon as we get it. >> our top story, a tragic accident leaves a toddler dead in oxon hill. this happened just before 8:00 last night on the 600 block of audrey lane. bridge county police say a 3- year-old boy was inside the running car with his grandmother when it started rolling backwards. the boy's father tried to stop the car and that is when the boy somehow fell out and was hit. police say another child was injured. >> the 2-year-old was injured when the fort observed the vehicle drifting backwards appear he was holding her. he dropped her and that is how she sustained her injuries. >> the 2-year-old was taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries and police are still investigating this accident. >>> a massive fire in germantown kept firefighters pretty busy last night. in t. b

things are happening very quickly here on leslie avenue in glenarden. when we arrived on the scene not too long ago, they were still bringing out many of the stretchers working the cpr on some of of the victims in this house fire. looks like it definitely started like right around 4:02 in the morning. so with a little more than an hour that has passed and things are still very much an active scene. joining me now is the chief. tell us what you can about the victims. >> 911 started to receive multiple calls for a house on fire. firefighters were able to pull six people from the house. four of those have cpr in progress. that is three children and one adult. the other child and other adult have nonlife-threatening injuries. they are being transported away. >> reporter: it looks like a difficult scene here. >> absolutely. fire investigators are just beginning their work. we have no idea of the cause at this point. no indication of any foul play but at this point, everything is on the table. >> reporter: and this is a family it appears, two adults and four

volunteer firefighters rushed to the home on leslie avenue in glenarden where they found a 33- year-old mother and her 8-year- old daughter outside on the front lawn. the two had managed to escape the inferno through a window and were suffering from smoke inhalation, but trapped inside were the father and three other daughters, an 11, 8 and 4-year- old. >> one firefighter did receive second degree burns from the search. so it's -- the hardest part for them is pulling those kids out of the house. >> the 36-year-old father and his 8 and 4-year-old daughters died before paramedics were able to get them to the hospital. the 11-year-old was resuscitated is put in grave condition. chief bashoor says the fire -- but is now in grave condition. chief bashoor says the fire began on the first floor of the house that was not equipped with smoke alarms. a neighbor across the street called 911. the family is believed to have lived in the one-story house about two years. a large garage is in the rear and holds an auto repair shop. >> it's tough. our kids played together daily every day after school, a
