glenn: it's exciting to see the growth.urth quarter, asia business going midteens, which is a nice number. part of that, asia came out of the pandemic slower. it was recovering while the u.s. had already come out of the pandemic. we expect further growth in asia. in the long run, there is opportunity. the people in asia and gdp, we see china having a problem now but it is still fine. think long-term. katie: sounds like that is a bright spot for opportunity. broadly speaking, travel demand expected for '24, how does that compare to '23, which was robust? glenn: people were talking about revenge travel. now, we enter the normalized environment, which is positive. travel historically has always gone better than gdp. the next thing, more people want to travel and get bookings online. still a lot of people don't do that. we still have that tailwind. all the things just developing. the flight business. that's relatively new for us. for the year, last year, we grew 58%. good numbers. rental cars, insurance, packaging, rides, lots

glenn, my friend, good to see you. even i have seen it multi-page rulings in our lives but this one has a decent price tag on it. let's start with the ruling from justice engoron. what are your two top line takeaways? well, katie, among the top line takeaways is, i think we have to look at the trajectory that donald trump's civil trials have been on. he started by losing a 5 million dollar judgment. then he lost an 83 million dollar judgment. now he's lost more than 450 million dollar judgment, and as you say, he is barred from doing business in new york for a number of years. here is the thing. as bad as all of that is, lady justice is just getting warmed up because next up for donald trump is his first criminal trial, then he has four criminal trials stacked up. it is impossible to see how he survives politically, how he survives financially and i think you know, all of this is just donald trump slowly being taken out of the system for the civil fraud, the civil wrongs, and the crimes he has alleged to have committed

a lot, so we have someone to break it all down for us, federal prosecutor and msnbc legal analyst glenn kirschner joins me now. all right, glenn, i want you to listen to what donald trump said about the civil fraud case this weekend. >> it's a sham case. there were no victims, no default, no damages, no complaints, no nothing. there was nothing. >> okay, so, glenn, we play that because a potential appeal could hinge on a new victims defense. so can you explain what this means and how it could even work? >> sure, if a no victim's defense was to win, it would have won in the trial court. but it didn't. it lost. here's why. victims, i think, is perhaps not the right word when you're dealing with this kind of fraud that donald trump perpetrated. i think defraud is the right word. here's why. donald trump lied about his assets, overvalued them, overinflated them. therefore, the banks ended up giving him an unduly and unfairly low interest rate. one, he defrauded the banks out of money. two, the banks could've used that money to loan, extend loans to other business men and women. so it may no

former federal prosecutor and msnbc legal analyst glenn kirschner.eorge conway joins us, conservative lawyer and contributing writer at the atlantic. he has a must read piece out today. katie, let's start with you. we have waited weeks for this decision. many lawyers were getting more and more anxious thinking this was not going to go the way they thought it should. what stands out to you? >> one of the first things that stands out to me is that this is an opinion that all three judges on the panel have signed on to. they are not showing any -- there is no daylight between them. they all agree on every single one of these points. it makes it really strong in terms of whether or not this is a thing that should be appealed to the supreme court and whether or not the supreme court will take it. they've also put in a tiny mechanism for donald trump. he can't continue to draw this. out there saying you either need to appeal to the supreme court in the next few days, or you need to say you want to bring this to the entire appeals court here in washington,

and glenn kirschner, a former federal prosecutor and host of the justice matters podcast.s not seem to change the fundamental facts. i don't know about that but. >> [laughter] i know about it. this is all been a fabrication. we can tell those who disbelieved that the fbi has confirmed that this guy is a liar, and so much so that the department of justice, the u.s. attorney's office, and federal magistrate has determined this needs to go forward with criminal charges for lying to the fbi. what we are left with is a lot of unanswered questions, lawrence. which is, for example, what happened at the fbi and when? there have been some reports, as much as over three years ago the fbi started to doubt what smirnov was telling them. was the source properly handled? ozzie polygraphed? did they understand that he could be doubled back on them? when did the russians know that they had a guy in touch, daily, reportedly with fbi agents and they could feed him disinformation that would somehow get to congress? lots of questions here. but we also have learned why even more the fbi direct

let me bring in glenn kirschner, also with us lisa rubin who watched this whole trial unfold inside that manhattan courthouse. lisa, there was no indication in this that the former president has secured an appeal bond. what does it mean? the one question people have is they keep hearing this number go up and up and up. does this mean anything in that regard? >> no, it doesn't. in fact, by filing this notice of appeal, trump does not get a stay on enforcement of the judgment, nor do any of the other co-defendants for that matter, until they post that undertaking that can come in the form of the bond as you suggested or a person can pay up the entire judgment. here we're expecting something closer to the bond given the enormity of the judgment and the fact it keeps accruing about $114,000 a day in interest. >> what do you make of this appeal, glenn? what does it say to you? >> it says absolutely nothing at the moment because lisa is right. the new york court system, chris, puts out a very helpful one-sentence explainer of these exact circumstances. here is what it says. it says the litigan
