the fact that glenn beck -- when i was teaching a class he was must-see tv. in 2008, he gets a show -- there's a lot of conspiracy -- a lot of george soros and gold and different things. for their argument, of course, obama wins, the field is ripe for a kind of conspiracy theories particularly aiming at socialist and communists. and then when republicans take the house in 2010, beck's popularity goes down. there's less of a need of this. the panic over obama's victory is lower. they would argue that the political shifts explain that change. there might be other issues as well. this is the reason why jfk stays so popular. he's the perfect conspiracy for politics. because depending on where you sit politically, you can always find your bad guys in the room. if you are -- if you want a foreign threat, it's soviet or cuban. if you are concerned about the right wing, then they are cia agents, military corporations, bell helicopter and oliver stone's movie, or if you're right wing, then they're communists, they're pro-castro. they're soviets. as well as mobsters in
