join me now, congressman glenn ivey, democrat from maryland on the homeland security committee, alsossassination attempt on former president trump in july. thank you so much for being with us. i was talking to your colleague, jared moscowitz, just a short time ago, and it is almost hard to fathom that while you are still investigating an assassination attempt now, there is another investigation going on. and you have said this goes beyond politics. tell us how you see what is happening right now. >> well, it's deeply disturbing. and i think it really threatens to undermine our democracy at a very fundamental time, when we have a very close and divided nation that is going to have to make a big decision with respect to who is going to be our next president going forward. and there are many other decisions and elections, you know, below that, going all the way down to the local level. but i think it is critical right now for those of us on this joint task force, for sure, and i would say -- i hope my colleagues across the board, to put the partisan politics to the side and be not only

we heard from congressman glenn ivey just last hour the idea of maybe he shouldn't be allowed to golfproperties through this part of the campaign, maybe a military base which we've seen other presidents do when they were in office. your thoughts? >> look, i'm a former agent, i'm going to say don't go anywhere, especially outdoors. at this point this is the second incident and where did it happen again, outdoors. being outdoors makes you more vulnerable. all it means is you have so many variables you are trying to control. the less variables i have to control the more that i can ensure the person i'm protecting stays safe. they should really have heart to heart conversations with his staff, talk to them, try to minimize his exposure. it's a golf course, you're out, you're in the open. line of sight issues. anywhere you have line of sight issues it's a problem. how can you cover all of them? that's the issue. is he going to listen? i do think he will try to accommodate to some degree. you can talk to them, it's how much the secret service is willing to push. i can absolutely right now s
