gloria. developing news bart just announced resumed service this morning in the east bay after a train derailed, caught fire and sent nine people to the hospital. all of this happened yesterday. new year's day, near the orinda station, and that impacted service between the rock ridge and walnut creek stations. abc seven news reporter lena howland in orinda with the latest. and are you seeing the trains moving again? lena >> a little too early for us to hear those trains running just yet at the orinda station. but just 30 minutes ago, bart confirmed with us that they will be running normal service through this station. and that's between rock ridge and the walnut creek stations. now, this , of course, comes after crews worked well into the night to make repairs and also do some inspections. a giant crane was even brought in last night to lift the derailed bart car back up onto the tracks, which took hours to pull off. bart says damage to the track is not extensive, but this is something that c

reggie, gloria. >> thank you. a second body has been recovered in the deadly plane crash off the coast of half moon bay. the coroner has identified the body of 26 year old oakland resident cassidy ray pettit. pettit died along with her fiance and two other people, when their plane went down january 14th. federal investigator say it was a small homebuilt plane. the cause of the crash is still under investigation. police say the two suspects involved in the shooting of. an alameda county sheriff's deputy in union city are dead. we first brought you that story yesterday morning, swat team officers discovered the bodies of a man and a woman inside a business on dow avenue overnight. after hours of negotiations. at first, police claim both suspects died from self-inflicted injuries. but they later walked that back, saying the deaths are still under investigation. the wounded deputy is still recovering. >> oakland is facing another disappointing headline, according to the new citywide crime report, violent crime rose 21

hi, gloria. good morning, kumasi and happy new year and happy new year to all of you at home. >> the new laws in california range from having more leeway in canceling a hotel or airbnb reservation to paying one month's rent as a security deposit instead of the typical two months. now, one new law means that minimum wage is going up. minimum wage is increasing to $618 an hour today for fast food workers. it's jumping to $20 an hour in april. but california's controversial decision to increase hourly pay by $4 between now and april is already facing fallout, with major fast food chains like mcdonald's and chipotle are planning to increase the california menu prices in the coming months. in all, 22 states are adopting laws in the new year to pump up paychecks for workers. the raises they range from $0.35 an hour to more than $1, and another benefit for workers is that all full and part time employees in california are getting a minimum of five sick days a year, and if you're wondering how much your
