thanks gloria.ew this morning we're learning the chp has completed a big operation as part of the governor's ongoing plan to try and slow crime in oakland and the greater east bay. abc seven news reporter lena howland joins us live with what the governor's office is saying about the operation and the plans for more in the future. lena >> amanda. overnight, we learned that governor newsom's plan to send 120 chp officers into the oakland area announced last week, was part of a temporary surge operation already. well underway. diving right into the numbers, the governor's office says between monday through friday of last week, a total of 71 suspects were arrested and 145 stolen vehicles were recovered and four crime linked firearms seized, all in oakland and surrounding east bay communities. they say. beyond the surge, the chp now has 72 officers assigned to this area. the suspects were arrested for a number of things, including possession of stolen property, auto theft, drug possession, driving under

gloria. tornado could be in the weather forecast for parts of northern california this afternoon. the national weather service's storm prediction center says there is a 5% chance of isolated tornadoes across portions of the sacramento valley, and there's a 2% chance of isolated tornadoes, damaging winds and large hail in populated areas along the i-80 corridor. places like vallejo, fairfield, and vacaville in the north bay. this morning, sonoma county is already dealing with roadway flooding. you see it there. here's a look at conditions in windsor. some streets look more like rivers. new video from overnight shows water gushing down star road and mark west station road. we are told a nearby creek overflowed, prompting the county to close the intersection. and as drew mentioned, the storm is bringing strong winds and big waves. abc seven news reporter lena howland is live along the coast in pacifica. you can see the wind there, lena. how's it looking in ? >> hey, amanda, good morning to you.

gloria. good morning. >> good morning. yeah. if you are driving today you want to leave a little bit earlier in case we do get that rain. i know when i drove in, it was just kind of sprinkling and then it started picking up a little more heavily. so let's get a live look outside right now at our south beach camera. and right now a big rig hydroplaned over on westbound 80 at fremont street. so there might be some delays in that area. chp did block off the exit there because of that, so keep that in mind if you drive in the area and you could see that traffic is starting to build here now, a look at your drive times for this morning. so far, just our usual slow spot that's on 580 westbound from tracy to castro valley. that will take you 42 minutes on 101 northbound from highway 85 to the san jose airport. that will take you 11 minutes. and then on 280 northbound from highway one to san francisco. that will take you ten minutes, but we cannot stress enough. just be careful out there on the roads
