i got them from a lady in gloucester who dealt in old embroidery pictures. i was deputed by my brother and sister to buy a golden wedding anniversary present for our parents. and what attracted you to them? i collect embroidery pictures. so, of course, for me, that was, you know, absolutely wonderful. and this bucolic scene-- absolutely. and what's so fascinating about them is that you have this supposed shepherd and shepherdess. but, of course, these would've been for a very grand house. and it's very interesting-- the rich love to have these romantic notions of what people in the countryside did. yes, the shepherdess. the shepherdess. and if you think about it, in the 18th century, the porcelain factories were producing lots of shepherds and shepherdesses, and even people like marie antoinette had her own little farm where she had powdered sheep.
