it is toward gloucester and you can see how it' s going north. these rain patches are moving about 50 miles per hour. we are starting to see lightning strikes toward martha' s vineyard. we are looking at the rainfall rates over when and per hour when you get into the heaviest downpours. flooding rains and more heavy rain and lightning. by 8:30 a.m., the bulk of the rain is shifting offshore. we will dry it out this afternoon with clouds breaking for some sunshine and the temperatures will respond into the low 70' s this afternoon. we got pockets of heavy downpours out there' s a let' s take a closer look at the radar. mike: typically, we watched showers and thunderstorms that come through at 30 miles per hour but these are faster. they move over areas so quickly and the tracking is difficult at times. on the north shore, not a lot of rain but we are getting downpours now. a lot of it is pushing offshore the focus is the southeastern part of the cape. that' s where i see the strongest downpours this morning. that will push in and about 13 minutes.
