gm and ford pretty stagnant. there's another way to view it the enterprise value calculations, which includes not just stock market value, but also the net debt for each company, it shows you that the economic footprint of gm and ford is still much larger. a lot of the debt that they are reported to have held is really not corporate debt it's basically vehicle financed debt it's loans that are backed bick car receivables, things like that it's not so much comp value, but nonetheless this still shows that as an economic entity gm and ford still much larger out there, but, you know, the market wants to value tesla's future, and the past businesses. now, let lookic at this list, a lot of stocks not -- tesla by far the largest, followed by a bunch of stocks that can't be in the s&p 500. this is a pipeline, uber is not yet profitable sh shopify, and currently dr. pepper, it's mostly a private company. tesla could be close to getting the four consecutive quarters. maybe that makes them eligibility. >> mike, thanks so m

if you look at enterprise value, which continues the net debt position as well, ford and gm are still much larger. they have a lot of debt, sure, much of that is backed by autoreceivables, thick like that, but it's not as if the market is saying tesla at this point is a larger corporate entity than the other two. it's saying the stock market value, basically the football is bigger, and that says a lot. that's gives tesla a lot of credit for success down the road, which has happened through these phases we were in one of these phases where the promise of the magical future is now in command of this stock, and it's really at the expense of a lot of short sellers. i mentioned about a little more than 20% of the float in tesla remains short, and now the float is only 75% of all the shares, because musk does own about a quarter of the company, but it's still about a 12 or 13 billion short debt in aggregate. that's actually gone up in terms of the pain for short sellers, it's an on-paper loss since the start of last year, guys. >> is it fair to consider as they've done in the past for tesla

strike.the gm there has been some weakness in terms of manufacturing.hen you look at the survey of what businesses expect going forward in terms of investment spending, that is on the weaker side right now. we don't think 2020 will be quite as weak in terms of business investment spending as it was in 2019. we are not looking for a huge acceleration either. there is still uncertainty as it relates to trade. we think that will probably continue to way -- weigh on investment spending. vonnie: what is the best scenario for negotiations? jay: the best case scenario is you get a confidence of trade deal where the chinese agree to stop transferring intellectual subsidieshere, stop to public enterprises, and we take the tariffs off. that is not our expectation. we don't think we will see a ratcheting up in the trade war but we are on a pause at this point. you never know. we will see how that all plays out. that would definitely i think be the best case scenario. amanda: yesterday our central bank governor in canada said he believes the reduction in growth tha
