this morning the commuters either had to catch a bus or take a car across the godden gate bridge. the ferries resumed service this afternoon. >>> dozens of ferry workers and supporters also rallied in san francisco outside the ferry building. earlier 40 union members and they're supporters gathered at san francisco city hall and boarded buses which took them to several rally locations. they say their protests are not over there may be more in the future. >>> the highway patrol was on alert this morning and ready to respond to the golden gate bridge just in case may day protests affected traffic on that bridge. rally organizers called on demonstrators to refrain from going near the bridge in an effort to avoid disrupting the commute in that area. in the end, there were no protest related incidents on the golden gate bridge. >>> may day protests railroad threatening to turn this evening's commute into turmoil. let's go to sal castaneda for a look at how the commute is going. >> gasia and frank, i want to mention the news chopper 2 has been monitoring the hundreds and thousands of pr

how is it going to win when they still haven't got to the godden to the bottom and the spin off through and mbing pressure? >> if it's disorderly could accelerate the process in spain, but even about we don't have something untoward in greece, as you said, spain has its own and will continue to suffer from that, i think part of the problem with what you were just discussing before, plans to kooe recapitalize, the problem is that people are getting grips that there's too much debt in spain. that's why there's a bailout sooner or later. >> public debt was as low as 40%, but always like ireland, private debt. so what september is it a model for spain here? >> i think in the end that's where we're headed. it may not be exactly, it may be some variant of the bad bank kind of approach. too much private debt, not much public debt. now it's heading to 100 or something. >> we see the impact on the ten year. private sector problems are becoming nationalized or socialized, becomes a burden on the taxpayer. >> absolutely. a lot of losses have already occurred. a supermajority have not been recogniz

not all that godden at the moment. in what he's calling a reckoning for california and america. governor jerry brown proposes some $8 billion in some painful budget cuts, and warns that $6 billion more could be slashed if voters don't approve his tax hikes. >> we didn't lose any money, we just didn't get it. when you make a prediction about the capitalist system, it is an estimate. a guesstimate. there is no certainties. i know you would like an exact prediction of the business cycle. it doesn't exist. wait. do you know the difference between saying hey, i think i'm going to get a bonus next year, and wrong? or as you walk to work, you lost your wallet? and $200 is gone. so one is a loss of actual dollars. and the other is coming out inaccurate on the predictions you make of a complex global flow of capital all over the world. martha: they counted on a whole lot of revenue that didn't come into the coffers basically and we're joined by stuart varney, anchor of varney & company. very fired up governor jerry brown there. what went wrong in california, stuart? >> he delivered a hug
