stark families, an association of people, we talk about goldstar moms and goldstar mothers are those who have lost a son or daughter, very inspirational story in here about a mom who is a gold star mothers and naval academy mom. would you like to touch on that? >> guest: i got to know her when she was up lead mom and discovered that lots of the moms have angst. the first big challenge your child is going through with out you and as i began to communicate with her she has an older son who she lost in iraq and the e under son was 5 at the time and the process of her coming to grips with the idea that she had this second son who wanted to serve, she tells the story, it is very meaningful and now she is completely supportive of him but it was really difficult journey for her. ..

the families that have suffered this tragedy that was 100% preventable are becoming goldstar families in this country. i want to thank you. mr. chairman: the gentleman from colorado, mr. buck. >> thank you, mr. chair. sheriff jones, how long have you been with the sheriff's office? >> since 1989. mr. buck: in your jail, i take it you implement a program with ice. >> we do. we cooperate to the extent we are able to. mr. buck: that program used to be known as the 287 g program. >> correct. mr. buck: it requires you to send deputies to be trained with ice. >> there is a training component. i am not certain what it is. we have a large jail next to the federal courthouse. we have a handy ice presence in our jail. mr. book: when i was district attorney i inquired ties how they found out about individual nationalities. i was concerned with profiling issues because they were raised. my understanding is that ice asks neutral questions to begin their questioning. they will ask something like where were you born? they will ask that of everyone they interview in custody. >> that is correct. they
