goni near the philippines and atsani near the philippines islands. they are strong storms and continue to show their intensity. here is a look on friday, northern cost of luzon, clouds all around. let me point out, something we can look at satellite perspective on visible imagery. notice how hazy and how kind of milky this area looks rather than clear cloud tops toward the north. that means very strong winds taking place starting to really rip the clouds apart. so we have more of the milky type of perspective. now, as we look forward in time, yes, the northern coast of the philippines will continue to get impacted with not only strong winds but high waves and heavy rainfall progressing throughout the next 48 hours. this system, goni, will turn north and east, bring lots of heavy rainfall on the eastern side of taiwan, okinawa islands progressing into the first part of next week. we are looking at very strong winds, over 90 kilometers per hour for ishigaki and areas around there and then naha, looking at strong winds progressing over time. lots of rai

it's indirectly associated with what is left of goni, no longer a typhoon an extra-tropical low. winds down in ishigaki. highest winds ever recorded on that island. they're very typhoon prone. quite incredible. look at this rain total. 667 millimeters into the kie peninsula. the storm tracks back here to the west. that moisture inflow coming in from the south and really just been piling up the showers even in the tokyo area you're starting to see that rain really start to come down as we go ahead through our wednesday. should taper off as we go into thursday but still on and off showers expected up and down the pacific coastline. the big threat with this storm is it's moving into parts of far eastern russia, china and north korea. we could see seeing as much as 100 millimeters of precipitation. there's a chance of flooding coming out of this. fukuoka you'll be seeing rain showers on wednesday. on and off showers in tokyo into thursday. some could become heavy. but vladivostok into russia, that's where we see the worst of the weather. not uncommon to get high ones in russia. this

goni is going to slide off to the north ever so slightly to the north and east. it is expected to bring some pretty heavy rainfall starting in just a few hours and gradually over the next 48 hours for parts of eastern taiwan. the problem is because it's all that rain in a short period of time, they are likely to get some localized flooding and mud slides as well. 72 hours from now we'll see impacts in japan. here's a look at the totals. a lot of places, totals around 150 millimeters total in the next 48 hours. now comparing the two storms that we have in the western pacific to the first major hurricane that we had had the atlantic, danny, you can see size is quite different. we have atsani at 425 kilometers wide compared to danny, 111 kilometers wide. hurricane danny is going to track to the west at 160 kilometers per hour, but as it continues to do so, it's going to hit an unfavorable environment. we have extra wind shear and drier conditions. so it is expected to weaken considerably over the next couple days. eventually down to tropical storm status and over to
