good morning, allie. >> reporter: good morning, dave. the 26-year-old man who was shot and killed lived in this home with his step dad and two other house mates. this is on pine nut way in antioch. antioch police say this was not a random crime. they believe the suspect targeted the victim. and some of the neighbors here say they know why. according to neighbors this young man had helped out one of his roommates in the past defending her from neighbors describe as a violent ex- boyfriend. antioch police say it was that ex-boyfriend who came to the home around 9:30 last night, got in a confrontation and then shot and killed the 26-year-old victim. now we only know the victim's first name, dave. antioch police aren't releasing his full identity to us yet. last night after the deadly shooting, the victim's stepfather and neighbors gathered in front of the house to pray and console each other. antioch police arrested the ex- boyfriend, the suspected gunman in this case, he is now in police custody. >> he had beat her up and david stopped him
