good to see all of you. good morning.ouple of things stood out for me and one is the number that we just showed and that people are sick of their own representative and usually people are sick of congress and they still like their person and the president who always had personal likability, josh, is under water. if you're anybody in washington right now, what do you make of these numbers? i wouldn't be surprised if we were in washington and especially the last month, and i think this is sort of like the situation in 2011 when we almost hit the debt ceiling. you had an asymmetrical effect and they're doing worse than the democrats and 22% of the favorable number is stunning to me, and i think republicans have to be worried about whether they'll hold the house of representatives next year. they have the advantage in the way the district maps are done and they should be able to hold the house even if they lost the popular vote by five or six points. they could, in account fa, lofa lose the popular vote. >> let me talk about

good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you. you may be tired of this but i can tell you we saw a group of b.a.r.t. union workers come out of the caltrans building and they look tired too. the negotiations started at 10:00 yesterday morning, they are still talking now. but still no deal. we're keeping an eye on the doors and we'll let you know when they come out with any news. what's happening now is that b.a.r.t.'s lead negotiator came out around 1:45, he didn't answer reporters' questions. there is still a gag order in place, actually the fourth time this week that a strike, potential strike has been averted. kind of like that movie groundhog day. keeps happening over and over. because of that gag order it's unclear thou talks are going but both sides sound very optimistic that there is progress. the federal mediator gave his standard statement. >> negotiations have been continuing, the parties are totally engaged, some progress has been made, and the parties have authorized me as they had on the two prior nights, to advise th

good morning. >> good morning. the white house is telling us that the president cancelled the back half of his southeast asia trip scheduled to begin this weekend. he will no longer be going to malaysia and the philippines as a result of the government shutdown. it's now day two of the shutdown and the wide ranging impact is more clear. national parks closed, federal office buildings closed. the department of the army telling us 154,000 of it's civilian workers have been furloughed as the impact is hitting real people. >> reporter: as wedding venues go, this one is historic. the jefferson memorial where they were scheduled to get married this saturday before the shutdown closed the memorials and cancelled their ambulance. >> i wasn't worried about the government shutting down. i was worried about rain. >> they're among two dozen couples scrambling to find new places to tie the knot this month. >> we aren't going to have the wedding we wanted or planned after putting so much energy into it. it's really upsetting. >>

good morning. >> reporter: good morning. a high-profile developer says that this surgery was unnecessary and cost him $50 million. now he's asking a jury here to give it back. after dr. mark midei, the hospital's former catheterization lab director was accused of giving patients unnecessary cardiac stents. >> dr. midei said it was 90%. after they reviewed everything it was 10%. >> reporter: those percentages refer to blockages in blood vessels. the higher the number the greater the need for a stent. the case dates back to 2009 when letters were first mailed to dr. midei's patients including businessman glen weinberg, a partner of the company behind such large developments like the maryland live casino. weinberg's case is now being heard in baltimore county circuit court. he claims he lost about $50 million after scaling back his business to deal with matters of the heart. after being diagnosed by dr. midei. in court monday weinberg's attorney told the jury -- >> reporter: last week dr. midei testified weinberg would have die
