i want to get to google. version of android software for smart phones, other devices being discussed in san francisco. wherelichman is live google i/o is taking place. the ceo of ever note and paul kedrosky still with us. what is the biggest thing you have seen come out of the conference today. >> it is still ongoing. the improvements to android are very exciting. there is a ton of capabilities that we want to take advantage of. >> exciting in what way? >> i believe you, but prove it. we have been huge fans of wearables. google's announcement that the new watches are coming out is fantastic. >> we noticed all the executives wearing these big watches onstage. >> we have been building for smart watches for a while and plan to have an app out on google wear as soon as it is available. there's a lot of things going on there that will fundamentally transform the way we deal with technology. like google and apple are doing interesting things. the announcement a few weeks ago, apple made a big push to become more de

google revealed an updated operating system, android l. we are waiting for go pro to price its initial public offering at any moment. their best-known for making cameras that people wear doing anything from skiing to biking to kayaking. the range, the company has been marketing as not just a camera maker but a media company. paul kedrosky joins me. i went snowboarding this winter, and i was amazed at how many people were writing with these go pros. >> it is stunning. the thing that is changed over the last 2-3 years, the go pro phenomenon is not new. what's new is people having 2-3 at once. you will see someone have one board to their board, mounted to their chest him on top of their head. you have people who used to be an owner, suddenly have four or five of them for a single i david e. that is a remarkable shift. >> it is fairly amazing. i have been on so many shoots, we had go pros out in the water. i presume the ocean is littered with tens of thousands of lost go pros. while this is a startup, it is a profitable business with high gros

google kicks off developers conference today. the latest announcement from google. that is next. >> welcome back. i'm cory johnson. this is "bloomberg west." google wrapping up their first day of their developers conference. the search giant unveiled a new version of android for smartphones. other highlights, a new android television. jon erlichman in san francisco at the event. he joins us. some members of the media were moaning about how long this keynote presentation went today. i think there was, to your point, this idea of android everywhere. it available in tv, and in cars. here is one of the executives we spoke to about that. >> android auto is familiar, but redesigned for the car. what it allows you to do is control the absent services running on your android smart phone through the familiar car control. the steering wheel button, and it also allows you to project or from your phone into the car all the display information so you can see your album, tyrant -- turn by turn directions. through thethese controls on the car. >> if we boil this down to three thin

can i turn to the google alum at the table? >> sure. google tv didn't work. so we'll try it again with another set-top box. i'm so tired of the set-top boxes. every week on the show someone is doing a new piece of hardware to connect to the tv. the watch is exciting. they're going head to head with apple which should have their watch by september. also exciting the phone to computer connectivity. >> tv just got less exciting with this aereo decision. if it had gone the other way you best bet everyone would be rushing into this trying to build something extra on top of this over-the-top series that they're already at now. it's just sort of a defensive defend your ecosystem play. >> we don't even have data an chromecast yet. they said in march they had users in the millions they expanded internationally but we still don't know how many people have that and are using it. >> i think the tv is not a great battleground. i talk to a lot of other publishers and people who do web video that are into connected tv and they tell me connected tv is meaningful. it's not so

>> google, for example.normally think about these as stints, orve year the person actually learns a job , chief something significant, proves himself, and then goes to do something else. ebay focuses a lot on how to we bring the relationship of folks who have graduated together. they have the external network tied in. places like ge, in terms of what they do in executive rotation. how do you then groom all kinds of stars to be an executive at this huge industrial conglomerate? >> what is silicon valley get that other industry's don't get? that r&dn valley gets is not just holing up in a lab and inventing something, and then set off -- and then there it is. it's actually being present an interactive in the network around innovation. people hold up steve jobs and say he was sit in the back room. but he was talking to people constantly. what can be done here, i mentioned learning about this, i about this. ,t's a combination of intense titian and intense cooperation. >> linkedin is a paradox. it makes a people f

google glass is really controlled by google right now.got android which is this world that is shared. if they are pushing ahead with software for smart watches under the android label, how does google glass connector that? you will see a lot of people wearing google glass and they will have those questions. i don't think google is ready yet to talk specifically about how those two different wearable categories could come together. i think people are excited to talk about that. jon will be in san francisco tomorrow for google i/o. sprint has raised the stakes in his battle with t mobile. they say new customers can now drop their service within 30 days with no penalties. it's in response to a new team mobile promotion that gives you a seven day trial period. we have alex sherman here to talk about it. to -- t mobile shaking things up. mergerlong rumored theoretically between sprint and t-mobile and you look at what is going on here, t mobile starts the ball moving with this seven you to try, allowing out the t mobile phone and the t mobile

there is developing news from google headquarters. kiet do is live in mountain view with "occupy" google protestors demanding net neutrality. what's that all about? >> reporter: these google protestors were set to spend the night and the next couple of days out here but it looks like this whole movement lasted about 10 hours. mountain view police came in at midnight and arrested them. they posted a couple of photos to twitter that shows police officers gathering at the scene. the "occupiers" say they were getting warnings to leave the campus by 11:40 p.m. they described the officers as aggressive and unreasonable. it looks like about half of the 20 "occupiers" were then taken into custody. this whole thing started yesterday afternoon as a way to pressure google to do more, where the fcc is considering two lanes on the internet. fast for one and slow for those who don't want to pay more. it was timed for the google developers conference. early on in the conference google said they could stay since they weren't disrupting business. poli
