these things are vessels for google -- what google calls the google assistant. microsoft calls it cortana, amazon calls it alexa. these are massive efforts which we're just at the very start of to do artificial intelligence, conversation with humans. and so, it's kind of a new or second era on phones and an all new era on other kinds of devices, and they stress that quite a bit. i do want to say one other thing. apple is going to be challenged, but apple has colossal resources here. the big -- i would be very worried if i were an investor in samsung. samsung is a hardware company. they do have some software. i don't mean to insult them. they have lots of software engineers, but they don't really own a widely adopted platform in software. they use google. now their software supplier is going whole hog into their business up against them in a huge way. and it's been a terrible month for samsung with the recall of the note 7 and the exploding batteries. and i think it could be a bad year for samsung. i mean, i don't know exactly what they're going to do, because th

they use google calendar, google dots. there is a lot of google in the ecosystem. they need to the got message out a little better and i think that starts with q4. david: samsung, the problems with their android system they had one blow up on them. maybe they take advantage of that. >> they got good reviews across the board. every tech journalist looked at phone. david: and it doesn't blow up. melissa: that is a huge bonus. go back to cheryl. she has more on amazon. cheryl, what do you have? >> there is a couple of things really problem with amazon's quarterly report. first fourth quarter operating income forecast, zero to $1.25 billion. that is nothing. that is saying they don't know what the fourth quarter operating income is actually going to be. so that is a big negative for the company right now. that is obviously below analyst estimates. shipping costs. remember that july prime day that they had, melissa, they had like record sales? i'm wondering if that is part of the shipping costs issues. shipping costs for this quarter up 43% year-over-year. melissa: wow.

lets start with google home. it's $130 dollars, comes in six colors, and arrives next month on november 4th. sure it plays music and answers trivia questions like you expect, but it also can control some smart home devices. you can ask it to turn lights on and off, or even pull up a show to watch on youtube or netflix. videos. speaking of chromecast, google's new ultra chromecast is twice the price of the original, costing about $70 dollars. but with it comes higher definition 4k video and wider resolution hdr. google wants to be in all corners of your home with its new wifi routers. not exactly exciting tech but it shows google's seriousness about being in every facet of keeping you connected to the world. unlike a single router, the idea is that you could have several of these google wis they ship in december and start at $120 dollars. but lets go back to that pixel phone. google's directly targeting the iphone with this one. google puts its own touch on the phone's design, with a rear glass panel and alumnium
