a lot of traditional gop coalitions. that is uniquely a black issue? >> not at all but i do think to the extent of the constituencies in the party, inroads, week to begin with as you can see, especially stressful. if your lobby within the party is so marginal to begin with, can you at best to feel like there is for john -- further marginalized. >> what do you the fact, look at the african-american voting block, 90 perhaps -- 90% vote democrat. cold, calculated the winning elections where should the gop be spending time? and if the majority of the african-american base is staunchly democrat, how do you make an argument to the republican party, action, need to stop doing what got you a majority and go to a voting block that is staunchly in the credit that it is hard to shake. >> i don't necessarily -- black republican are the one -- for me it is like - that strategy, i do think part of the message is not just kicked in the column. one thing about black republicans is incredibly symbolic. part of the argument becomes to the extent the notion of diversity

the gop has held this congressional seat for decades. now its future is uncertain. this morning, democrats fell just short of winning georgia's sixth congressional district. jon ossoff had hoped for a knockout but came up short against a splintered gop field. the 30 year old first time candidate won less than 50 percent of the vote in the district. the race is now headed to a runoff against republican karen handel that will be held in june. democrats though say it's still a victory and proves president trump's negative effect. numbers overnight show karen handel had just under 20 percent of the vote. ossoff had just over 48 percent. thats more than the four leading republicans combined! the g-o-p has won this seat for the last 37 years. breaking overnight. an accident involving an ambulance shut down part of a road in northwest while you were sleeping. this was the scene in the 19-hundred block of virginia avenue just before 2 a.m. the crash caused the ambulance to overturn on the roadway. no injuries were reported. but virginia avenue was shut down in both directio
