a tough day for investors in gopro. shares falling more than 5% in extended trade. >> gopro bulls are not easy to find. that stock has nose dived over the past 12 months and only 28% of analysts think this is a buy. gopro's latest results for a mixed bag. for q1 it reported a loss of 63 cents. and gross margin clocked in at 33%. on the plus side revenue came in at 184 million. analysts expected 169 million. one big piece of neuse. gopro is delaying the launch of its new drone. now gopro is simply saying that the launch will benefit the holidays. investors are focused on the drone as the potential catalyst for the shares. as well as a new camera. they say gopro has made a series of specific miss steps, turning ahead gopro did maintain its full year revenue guide. for cnbc i'm josh lipton in san francisco. >> we were just talking. we've never tried gopro. >> never tried but i am curious. >> extreme sports. it is phenomenal to watch these pictures, right? but for most of us it is kind of not. >> i did a mountain wyc in --.

carol: coming up, square and gopro are in the spotlight.mpanies will report earnings after the closing bell today. ♪ carol: there are two tech companies in small-market cap. we're talking about jack dorsey's payment company square, and gopro, both reporting earnings after the closing bell today. both shares trading well over ahead.joining us from san francisco with the numbers and what you need to know is "bloomberg west" anchor emily chang. let's kick it off with square. what should we be watching out for? emily: shares have been on a tear over the last quarter. we are expecting a loss of about six cents a share, $345 million or so in revenue. less quarter jack dorsey said we will be profitable by the end of this year. that's a different story than what is happening with twitter, where shares have plummeted. we saw their shares trading in tandem. now they have diverged, and doing shares have been well. twitter shares have not. it's leading to new questions, can he keep running both of these companies at the same time . there's no sign that

gopro is down by more than 6 1/2%. >> the release was about gopro's drone.drone in the first half of this year. now saying they're going to delay the launch of that drone. ceo nick woodman talked about that delay on the call. >> as late as this week we believed karma's launch was on schedule. however, karma includes revolutionary features that differentiate it from other drones. features that make it much more than a drone. and deliver the versatility, value, and performance that consumers expect from gopro. >> so from that conversation so far, melissa, on the call, it's not clear, at least to me why the drone has been delayed. was it engineering issues? technical issues? now saying the drone will be ready for the holidays. but no specific point there. no surprise a lot of questions about that on the call. analysts want to know would that drone delay impact the delay of a new camera which is also expected later this year. executives saying it will not. that the drone schedule is different than the camera schedule. they also tried to get at the cfo about the

check out gopro. now, you know gopro disappointed with earnings. the year before, and it is not going to put its drone out on time. they are going to miss that. square also disappointed with its small business lending unit down almost 20%. nec yelp actually doing quite better as analysts did like their earnings report. the michalis softness was expected and revenue in vegas rose by 1%. the company said april revenues were better in both regions. look at jcpenney, looking at additional cost cutting measures. they also say the article raises concerns it may be time to air on the side of caution with the stock down 6.6% in early trading. megan: let's see what is moving in the u.s. market. abigail doolittle is standing by. abigail: a specialty pharmaceutical company offered a 2016 outlook well below estimates. the low end of the prophet range has been reduced by as much as 20% as the generics underperformed. not surprisingly, there was a pretty bearish reaction and they stock has been downgraded to a market perform, saying a turnaround is likely to tak
